Requirement to apply

Academic requirements:

  • Completion of 45 s.h. by the end of the semester in which the application is submitted
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Completion of the following courses by the end of the semester of application
    • BIOL:1411 Foundations of Biology 1
    • MATH:1460 Calculus for the Biological Sciences (or an equivalent calculus course)

Research requirements:

  • Engaged in mentored scientific research

  • Description of applicant's undergraduate research to date (limited to 1,000 words)
  • Approximate amount of time engaged in mentored research (number of weeks/year and hours/week)

Education background:

  • List of applicant's learning community memberships
  • List of leadership roles the applicant has held during college

Academic and career goals:

  • Description of applicant's career goals and aspirations
  • Identification of applicant's academic career objective

After submission

Once the student submits an application, the research mentor will receive an invitation via e-mail from the CCTS application system to support the student’s participation in the certificate.

The mentor will be asked to comment on the student’s research promise and to provide additional information regarding the research project.
