We are excited to be one of three physical exhibits in this year’s University of Iowa Mobile Museum!

Our exhibit showcases how research is translated into health care through translational science. Translational science is the never-ending cycle of innovation and discovery that seeks solutions to improve the world’s health concerns.

Discover, Develop, Deploy

In our exhibit, we explain translational science in three stages: discover, develop, deploy. We also highlight the work of three researchers to show the variety of research the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science assists with and conducts.

In this part of the exhibit you can listen how a hybrid cochlear implant can improve someone’s hearing, learn how collaborating with community partners can make a difference in the health of Iowans, and feel the difference specific compounds can make on our muscle strength.

Participate in Research

As an institute, we also help researchers recruit subjects for their clinical research studies. In our Mobile Museum exhibit we explain what it is like to participate in a study and how to sign up through some of our registries: Iowa Research Heroes and the STAR Registry.

Technology

Technology is changing the world of research and health care. We highlight ways some of our researchers are making medicine more accessible, more accurate, and more reliable through technology. You can even test mobile applications a former scholar created.

The Mobile Museum

The University of Iowa Mobile Museum launched in 2014 as a partnership between the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, the Office of the State Archaeologist, and the Pentacrest Museum.

The Mobile Museum inspires visitors to understand the world by bringing exhibits with cutting-edge research, one-of-a-kind artifacts, and interactive digital media to Iowa’s communities statewide. They promote interdisciplinary partnerships and collaborations to present UI research and stimulate understanding, appreciate, and pride for the University of Iowa and the state.
