
Goals
- To support clinical and translational research at the University of Iowa
- To enhance public trust in the clinical/translational research enterprise
- To remove barriers to conducting clinical and translational research
- To stimulate new interactions that enhance multidisciplinary research and training programs
- To promote the translation of promising basic science observations to clinical settings
- To facilitate translation of proven clinical findings into practice settings
- To promote collaborations with other universities and Industry that will enhance the mission of the ICTS
- To promote diversity in the training and participation in clinical and translational science
- To identify, recruit, and train outstanding scholars from diverse disciplines to participate in patient-oriented research
- To provide training for a wide variety of scientists interested in conducting clinical and translational research, including community researchers, study coordinators and early-career researchers
- To work with other CTSA programs to establish networks that will enable translational research as a standard across the US
- To develop a network of Iowa communities integral to the Institute's research and education mission
