Goals

  1. To support clinical and translational research at the University of Iowa
  2. To enhance public trust in the clinical/translational research enterprise
  3. To remove barriers to conducting clinical and translational research
  4. To stimulate new interactions that enhance multidisciplinary research and training programs
  5. To promote the translation of promising basic science observations to clinical settings
  6. To facilitate translation of proven clinical findings into practice settings
  7. To promote collaborations with other universities and Industry that will enhance the mission of the ICTS
  8. To promote diversity in the training and participation in clinical and translational science
  9. To identify, recruit, and train outstanding scholars from diverse disciplines to participate in patient-oriented research
  10. To provide training for a wide variety of scientists interested in conducting clinical and translational research, including community researchers, study coordinators and early-career researchers
  11. To work with other CTSA programs to establish networks that will enable translational research as a standard across the US
  12. To develop a network of Iowa communities integral to the Institute's research and education mission
