Institute Internal Advisory Committee


The Internal Advisory Committee will be comprised of successful scientists and leaders of major research programs and centers within the University. We will include representatives from each of the University’s applicable colleges. The purpose of the committee is to serve as an essential source of advice on all aspects of the Institute’s activities, including selection and evaluation of trainees and their mentors. The committee will also evaluate Institute activities and recommend changes. Members of the Internal Advisory Committee will hold an appointment in the Institute. The committee will meet quarterly. Committee members will be asked to serve a three-year term.

Institute Internal Advisory Council


The Internal Advisory Council is comprised of the Provost, the Vice President for Research, Vice President for Medical Affairs, each of the collegiate deans and the Director and CEO of the UIHC. This Council will meet periodically with the Institute Director to ensure communications remain open between the Institute and all the colleges.

University-Community Roundtable


The Institute University-Community Roundtable is comprised of the Institute Community Engagement Key Function director and co-directors, the IANEPCA (Iowa/Nebraska Primary Care Association) medical director, the director of the IANEPCA data management center and the executive directors of four Community Health Centers; Community Health Care, Inc., Davenport, IA, Primary Health Care, Inc., Des Moines, Iowa, Siouxland Community Health Center, Sioux City, IA, and Peoples Community Health Clinic, Waterloo, IA. This committee will provide special consultation on the conduct of research and education in the community. The University-Community Roundtable will meet quarterly with the Institute Executive Committee.


Institute External Advisory Committee


Once a year, an External Advisory Committee comprised of four nationally known investigators and teachers will be invited by the Executive Committee to assess the Institute’s progress and provide detailed recommendations for change. Two members of the External Advisory Committee will come from historic minority institutions.
