Biomedical Informatics

The IT Key Function is responsible for establishing and maintaining information technology infrastructure to support clinical and translational researchers within the UI and across the national consortium.

It has established a research collaboration web site supporting interest profiles and biosketch management. It has developed a tiered storage area network supporting secure, large-scale curation of scientific data; it manages on-line systems supporting pilot grant proposal submission/review, questionnaire management, conference registration, and data collection for the annual progress report.

It has also created and manages a secure, authenticated wiki for institutional collaboration, including private spaces for groups as requested.

Projects in the planning stages include an enterprise-scale generator of research subject identifiers and a customizable research data management tool.
